fray fancast

I can't remember exactly how my sister and i got onto the subject of Melaka Fray but to be quite honest, there doesn't have to be any reason for me to start singing her praises.
She's a goddess.
End of.
But would i ever want her committed to film?
I don't know.
I just don't know.
Who could possibly do her and the visuals justice?

Here are my current potential favourites:

Director: Joss Whedon (obviously) teamed up with James Gunn and Luc Besson
Screenwriter: Joss Whedon (again, obviously)

And to be Miss Fray herself?
Krysten Ritter.
Hands down.
No question.

Excuse me while i create a Fancast board on Pinterest.

Why is it so damn impossible to find any information on the release of Wytches Vol. 2?
Snyder, you're killing me.
I guess i'll just have to read American Vampire in the meantime.
Woe is me.

keaton henson - you

If you're not sad, do not for the love of your sanity listen to Keaton Henson.
He will lay waste to your defences and render you pitiful.

'He says he doesn’t feel like working today.
It’s just as well. Here in the shade
Behind the house, protected from street noises,
One can go over all kinds of old feeling,
Throw some away, keep others.
                                The wordplay
Between us gets very intense when there are
Fewer feelings around to confuse things.
Another go-round? No, but the last things
You always find to say are charming, and rescue me
Before the night does. We are afloat
On our dreams as on a barge made of ice,
Shot through with questions and fissures of starlight
That keep us awake, thinking about the dreams
As they are happening. Some occurrence. You said it.

I said it but I can hide it. But I choose not to.
Thank you. You are a very pleasant person.
Thank you. You are too.'

Three movies.
Three crushing scores.

I can't listen to this without wanting to sob my heart out all over again.
The measure of a truly affecting piece of musicianship.

The most languid of music for the most languid of movies.
Never have vampires made being cool look so damn effortless.

Johnny Jewel.
Need i say more?

lost river

Unexpectedly, i really liked this.
It doesn't quite hold together but i can see what Gosling was getting at:

(specifically his colour scheme)

And his cast is beyond stellar, especially Iain De Caestecker but it feels like a cut and paste affair.
There's nothing new.
It's all pretty neon colours and no depth.
Nothing to tear your teeth into.
And that's actually a damn shame because this could have been something special.
A movie to make your heart bleed.
But alas.
Maybe next time, Mr Gosling.

'Tell a child she is composed of parts
(her Ojibway quarters, her German half-heart)
she'll find the existence of harpies easy
to swallow. Storybook children never come close
to her mix, but manticores make great uncles,
Sphinx a cousin she'll allow, centaurs better to love
than boys—the horse part, at least, she can ride.
With a bestiary for a family album she's proud.
Her heap of blankets, her garbage grin, prove
she's descended of bears, her totem, it's true.
And that German witch with the candy roof,
that was her ancestor too. If swans can rain
white rape from heaven, then what is a girl to do?
Believe her Indian eyes, her sly French smile,
her breast with its veins skim milk blue—
She is the myth that is true.'

'There was a time when, at any given moment, I did not know how I should reach the next one. Yes, in this world one can make war, play at love, torture one's fellow man, show off in the newspapers or merely speak ill of one's neighbour while knitting. But in some cases carrying on, just carrying on, is the superhuman achievement.'

'In the dark theater Lee could feel his body pull toward Allerton, an amoeboid protoplasmic projection, straining with a blind worm hunger to enter the other's body, to breathe with his lungs, see with his eyes, learn the feel of his viscera and genitals. Allerton shifted in his seat. Lee felt a sharp twinge, a strain or dislocation of the spirit. His eyes ache. He took off his glasses and ran his hand over his closed eyes.'

Queer

There's nothing restful about reading the Beat Generation.
No slow-going.
No generous pauses.
No room to breathe.
And it's glorious.

Movie adap, please?

Pleasant camera surprises while being preoccupied booping Charles on the nose.
It helps if you say "boop" when contact is made.

The unnecessary colour changes in this t shirt make me unfathomably happy.
Small pleasures, simple minds, etcetera.

When you're not quite ready to dive right back into the depravity of Jesse Custer's universe, what do you do?
You turn to the master of apathy, the sovereign of surl.

Clowes is king.

A daisy kind of day and follicles the mater described as "thunder hair".
Perhaps caused by the clap of thunder so loud it woke me from humid dreams - not an easy feat, there's a fair chance i'd sleep right through the zombie apocalypse - and scared the cowering crap out of the feline demon we like to call "The Charlie Bear".
My cat is all mouth - which is usually wrapped around someone's ankle - and no furry trousers.

kill your darlings

Sometimes you watch/hear/read/feel/taste something and it just... wounds you.
Not a painful wound.
Not an injury.
But a wound that shines.
That makes your breath catch, your skin hum.
That makes you laugh and cry simultaneously.
That makes you feel.

That makes you Kill Your Darlings.
